Bengaluru: Nature in Abstraction is the concept of Sushil I Tarbar's landscape cum abstract paintings exhibition, currently underway at Gallery No 1 in Karnataka Chitra Kala Parishat, here.
An unusual combination: Prof Babu Jattakar, former principal of the College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitra Kala Parishat and well-known artist, inaugurated the exhibition by lighting the lamp. He showered praises on the artworks on display and opined that, usually, you find neither landscape paintings nor abstract paintings. However, Sushil I Tarbar has given a different visual treat altogether by combining both landscape and abstract formats.
To a different world of its own: R Suri, veteran septuagenarian artist and Member of Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademi, another guest of the evening, was highly appreciative of the quality of works in the show. He felt the works take the viewers to a different world of their own.
Aesthetic utility of white space: B G Gujjarappa, regarded as one of the top hundred cartoonists in the world, was terrifically impressed at the way the white background was used to jell with the paintings. He also noted the choice of colours was in tandem with the works.
About the show: "Nature is not only what we see—it is also what we feel."
In Nature in Abstraction, artist Sushil I. Tarbar transforms landscapes, trees, flowers, and moments of stillness into expressive compositions of colour, texture, and movement.
To experience emotion, memory, and imagination through an abstract visual language: Rather than depicting nature in a realistic manner, these paintings seek to capture its essence and spirit. They invite viewers to experience emotion, memory, and imagination through an abstract visual language.
Abstraction becomes a language: Each artwork reflects a dialogue between the external world and the artist's inner landscape. Here, abstraction becomes a language of serenity, harmony, and contemplation.
A personal connection within each canvas: This collection celebrates the beauty of nature through contemporary artistic expression, encouraging every viewer to discover a personal connection within each canvas.
About the Artist: Sushil I. Tarbar is an independent artist from Belagavi, Karnataka. He graduated from Hampi University with an A.M.G.D. degree in 2003. Over the years, he has participated in several prestigious national and international exhibitions, including the International Art Fair organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, the IWS India Biennale, and the Kala Spandan Art Fair.
He has presented several solo exhibitions in Bengaluru, Goa, New Delhi, and Dharwad.
Both visual beauty and emotional resonance: His artistic practice explores abstract interpretations of nature through expressive colours, textures, and dynamic compositions, creating works that evoke both visual beauty and emotional resonance.
