In fact, her initial vocal training began with her mother Laksh

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Results as Expected, Kerala creates history

T he outcome of general elections in the three South Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry Union Territory is on expected lines devoid of any big surprises. Dravida Munnetra Kazgham(DMK) led alliance is victorious in Tamil Nadu while the ruling Left Democratic Front has registered a historic win in Kerala breaking the phenomenon so far of alternative Front governments successively. Thanks for joining hands with the NR Congress, the NDA is set to form a government in the tiny Puducherry Union Territory. Image : Business-standard.com Tamil Nadu went to the polls for the first-ever time without the formidable sworn enemies, mass leaders, and stalwarts in their own way, J Jayalalitha of the AIADMK and M Karunanidhi of the DMK. By and large but a couple of times, the DMK and AIADMK have been coming to power alternatively. In the absence of any mass leader in the ruling AIADMK Party to fill up the void created by Jayaram Jayalalitha, the routing of the ruling Party was but for

GI Tag: Even sweet Mysuru Pak becomes bitter to Kannadigas!

U nion Finance Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman elected to the Rajya Sabha from the state Assembly is again in news for not so good reasons to the Kannadigas.Recently she had attracted severe criticism from the Janata Dal-Secular(JD-S) and Indian National Congress(INC) leaders including former chief ministers and leaders of pro-Kannada organizations for failing to keep up her promise of conducting Banking examinations in Kannada along with Hindi and English. She had assured several delegations of elected representatives from the state that henceforth banking examinations for recruitment of clerks in nationalized banks would be held in Kannada as well. But for failing to adhere to her self imposed norm she was under attack following which she again had to clarify that henceforth the banking examinations will be held in Kannada as well.                                   This time she is once again at the receiving end as one Anand Ranganathan , a columnist of Tamil Nadu has claimed t

BJP springs surprise in Karnataka and Telangana while draws blank in AP, TN and Kerala

T he Bharatiya Janata Party has written new history in Karnataka , considered as the Gateway to South India by snatching 25 out of 28 Lok Sabha constituencies and managing to win from four seats in Telangana. However it has failed to register any win in either of the remaining South Indian states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Probably the biggest surprise for the saffron party today turned out to be Karnataka which bagged literally the whole state barring a mere two constituencies, one each to the Congress and JDS. The third seat was won by an Independent but supported by the BJP.Another noteworthy feature of today's results happened to be the total rout of veteran politicians and emergence of novices transforming out as new heroes on the political arena. HD Devegowda, former prime minister and Janata Dal Secular party supremo, Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of the Congress party group in the Lok Sabha, M Veerappa Moily, former chief minister and central minister, KH

BJP looks to become a beneficiary in Tamil Nadu

A lthough the political scenario in the Southern most state Tamil Nadu looks quite confusing on the face of it but by and large and on the whole it looks that ultimately the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to become the major beneficiary. Well there are multiple reasons now being put forth in the poll bound state for foreseeing such an outcome which is quite contrary to the earlier results so far. The interesting characteristic of both the main two Dravidian parties,Dravida Munnetra Kazagham(DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham(AIADMK) is that they have alternately aligned with the Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress whenever the national parties were in power at the center. And after sharing, enjoying the fruits of being in office both of them have found enough valid reasons to desert them and also isolate them for the subsequent term! This time around and as expected the ruling AIADMK combine is in alliance with the BJP led NDA while the main opposition par

AIADMK-BJP combine aspires to win a handful of seats in Tamil Nadu

image source: sundayguardianlive.com T amil Nadu politics probably has no comparison in the whole of country if you were to take the ground realities into consideration. Ever since the Dravidian parties came into existence and till date the mindset of the leaders of these regional outfits doesn’t seem to have changed for better. They still float obnoxious ideas like separate electorate, independent nation status and intoxicating stuff like that into the minds of innocent people. Perhaps there’s a long history for such a state of affairs in the Southern most part of the country. South Indian Welfare Association was the first regional party of the state taking birth in 1916.The name was changed to Justice Party after its English language daily newspaper’s name which was more known for its vocal support to the Britishers. Thanks to the imposition of Hindi on the regional states during the early sixties, the situation paved way for the Dravidian movement to stretch its r

BJP can bet only in Karnataka in the whole of South to bag some seats

BJP can bet only in Karnataka in the whole of South to bag some seats     T he whole of South India gives altogether a diversely different picture in comparison to the overall political scenario prevailing in North India and elsewhere. In a way but for Karnataka almost all other states by and large hint at a situation giving an indication in favor to the local regional parties rather than the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party at the Center. So for all practical purposes if at all the BJP has to rely upon for seats in the South it will only be from Karnataka. Thanks to the hitherto sworn enemies Janata Dal Secular-Indian National Congress joining hands to form a coalition government even the prospects of the saffron party are not that rosy as they used to appear earlier. image source jagran.com Telangana for TRS: Any numbers of freebies to the electorate have enabled the Telangana Rashtra Samithi President and state Chief Minister continuously for the second time, Kalvakuntla Ch
