Maharashtra Government Kannada School Students Fly to New Delhi Bengalur

The students of Zilla Panchayat Government Kannada Primary School at Maindargi town of Akkalkot Taluka in Solapur district of neighbouring Maharashtra state are in the news for their New Delhi visit by flight. About 45 people, including 35 female students, four teachers and two members of the School Maintenance Committee have achieved this unique feat to undertake the educational tour.

First time in the history of Maharashtra:
According to Mahanteshwar Kattimani HeadMaster, Zilla Panchayat Government Kannada Primary School at Maindargi-"This is the fifth such tour as it has been my passion to ensure the children to undertake air-travel. Earlier, I was able to arrange for the aeroplane tour to the Government Kannada School students of Jeevoor, Goudgava, Nagansur and this happens to be the fifth such tour. Also, it is for the first time in the history of Maharashtra that students of any Government school are being enabled for a tour in the sky".

To Mumbai by Train:
Before going to New Delhi via Mumbai the students and Teachers team consisting of 45 members reached Mumbai from Solapur by train on 29 December. On reaching Mumbai they found time to have a glimpse of the tourist spots there and halted at Mumbai airport. Sachin Panchappa Kalyanshetti, Akkalkot MLA made the necessary arrangements for their stay.

Sightseeing in New Delhi:
On 31 December the team visited the important landmarks of the country's capital New Delhi. After seeing New Sansad Bhavan, Rajghat, Lotus Temple and Red Fort they reached India Gate to celebrate the New Year. Later they moved to Maharashtra Bhavan to retire for the day. Jaisidhesvar Swami, Solapur Lok Sabha MP has made arrangements for their travel and stay in New Delhi, informed Mahanteshwar Kattimani.

Expenditure of some with HeadMaster's contribution:
By and large most of the students have paid for the travel expenses while some of the less fortunate were unable to remit the same. For all such students, the HeadMaster Mahanteshwar Kattimani himself has volunteered to pay for the expenses from his pocket.

Mahanteshwar Kattimani, a model to all others:
Ms Sujatha Sabasagi and Ms Rekha Sutar, both Members of the School Maintenance Committee, Zilla Panchayat Government Kannada Primary School at Maindargi shower a heap of praise for the unique gesture of Mahanteshwar Kattimani, HeadMaster, Zilla Panchayat Government Kannada Primary School. They are also univocal in doing so-"The stance of the HeadMaster Mahanteshwar Kattimani in enabling all students, who have paid and others who haven't been able to do so to go on board is not only unimaginable and commendable but a worthwhile feat for all others in similar positions to follow".

An unforgettable experience:
"All these days we were rejoicing at seeing the planes fly in the sky. But this aerial journey has given us all together a new unforgettable experience for a lifetime. Neither we had ever dreamt of nor wondered about making an air trip. There is no doubt about it becoming a fond memory to cherish forever", exclaimed Megha Sabasagi, a seventh-standard student.

Meeting with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal:
The one-week picnic is to be over on Wednesday 03 January when the entourage is set to return by KK Express train to Solapur. Today, the group had a scheduled meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister. When gave it a try to learn about the experience the HeadMaster Mahanteshwar Kattimani expressed his helplessness for being in a shopping area and overseeing the children.

Paul Mamu becomes part of Dharwad's history

People originally from Dharwad and most of whom migrated decades ago elsewhere across the state, country and world in search of green pastures were in for a sudden shock since late evening on Monday. They all shared similar sentiments, fond moments and profound grief in the passing away of Paul Cardoza of the renowned Hotel PAUL’S at Vidyagiri. He was 69 years old and not at all an age for his generation to bid adieu. Walks to Death: Paul Cardoza was a little bit hefty for his height and age; otherwise there were no visible symptoms to hint of any ailments he had been challenged with. Even on the fateful day, he attended to the chores in the hotel until the afternoon before proceeding to neighbour Hubballi for a cardiac test. It is said that he literally walked to the health check-up facility to undergo the examination. No, he was not destinated for it as he suffered a massive stroke and never to recover! A jovial personality: In the passing away of Paul Cardoza Dharwad has lost one o
