Bengaluru: The Department of Dairy Chemistry, in association with the Department of Dairy Technology, organised a six-day training program from 22 June 2026 to 27 June 2026 for small-scale entrepreneurs.
Products for sustainable self-employment: The program focused on demonstrating and quality-assessing innovative, value-added dairy and food products. The primary objective was to raise awareness of production and business practices among small dairy entrepreneurs, enabling them to develop their own products for sustainable self-employment.
Need to maintain hygiene and safety: The training program was inaugurated by Rudramani S., Retired Chief Manager of the State Bank of India (SBI), Kempapura, Bengaluru. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of quality standards, value addition, and product development in the food sector. He also stressed the need to maintain hygiene and safety for the development of safe value-added dairy products.
Training programs are a need for the unemployed youth: In the presidential remarks, Dr Arun Kumar H, Dean of the Dairy Science College, highlighted that the institution has always been active and helpful in supporting rural youth for many years. He stated that such training programs are a need for the unemployed youth to successfully transition into self-employment.
Complete knowledge on the preparation: The Director of the training program, Dr Venkatesh. M stated that the training course contents were meticulously planned and designed to provide complete knowledge on the preparation of various dairy and food products, including paneer, peda, sweets and other value-added items such as ragi ice cream, paneer mousse, etc.
Raw material quality has a significant impact: Co-director Dr Rajanna M. highlighted that the marketing and success of newly developed dairy and food products directly depend on the quality of raw materials used. He emphasised that raw material quality has a significant impact on the final product's standard and market acceptability. Dr Sachindra Babu, Head of Division, Dairy Science, was also present during the function.
