“Kr̥ishiVitta – Agri Startup Investor Meet” Tomorrow

Bengaluru: Agri Innovation Centre, a flagship initiative of University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (AIC–UASB) on the occasion of 60th foundation year is organising “Kr̥ishiVitta – Agri Startup Investor Meet” in collaboration with Global Incubation Services (GINSERV) and the Atal Incubation Centre – Coffee Board of India (AIC-CCRI-CED) on 12th December 2025.

Agri Startups struggle to scale: Agriculture is rapidly transforming with the rise of agritech innovations, digital farming solutions, and sustainable production technologies. However, many promising Agri Startups struggle to scale due to limited access to private investments.

The event will be conducted in three phases: Kr̥ishiVitta aims to create a direct connection between high-potential Agri Startups and India’s leading private investors. The event will be conducted in three phases: an Investor Pitching Session where startups shortlisted through the Pre-Pitch Workshop will present their solutions to venture capitalists and angel investors; a Knowledge Workshop featuring sessions for startups, entrepreneurs, and students on key success factors for Agri Startups, strengthening farmer connect through innovation, IDFC First Bank’s startup support solutions, and branding and packaging strategies for emerging ventures; and a Startup Expo showcasing innovative agri solutions.

Investor Readiness Workshop: As a prelude to this flagship event, the 3-day Pre-Pitch Workshop on Pitch Perfect: Investor Readiness Workshop was organised from 2nd to 4th December and the objective is to train startups on confidently presenting innovation to investors. The programme was supported by the Karnataka State Department of Agriculture. Thirty startups took part in intensive masterclasses focusing on investor expectations, business storytelling, and pitch readiness.

Featured expert-led sessions: The workshop featured expert-led sessions on preparing startups for investor engagement, covering financial readiness, the structure of a strong slide pitch deck, crafting a compelling business story, developing effective go-to-market strategies, and understanding valuation, funding ask, and equity dilution. It also included insights into the investor mindset to help founders communicate their value proposition with clarity and confidence.

From the pre-pitch workshop, 13 innovative startups were shortlisted for the investor meet, and these startups will be pitching to Venture Capitalists, Institutional Investors and Angel Investors.

DemoDay and Workshop on 12th December 2025:

Presentations by shortlisted Agri Startups to private investors: The event will be conducted in three phases: Investor Pitching Session– curated presentations by shortlisted Agri Startups to private investors.

A strong pipeline of scalable ventures: Kr̥ishiVitta will help build more investible agri startups by strengthening their investor-readiness and creating a strong pipeline of scalable ventures from Karnataka and beyond. The event is expected to boost private investment in agriculture by attracting venture capital and angel funding to a sector that remains underserved. With better access to capital, startups can take innovations like precision tools, sensors, AI advisory systems, and post-harvest technologies to farmers faster, improving productivity and incomes. By bringing together incubators, investors, universities, and government partners, the programme will strengthen the overall agritech ecosystem. In the long run, it will also create rural employment, motivate Agri graduates and youth to take up entrepreneurship, and enhance local agri value chains, generating lasting social and economic impact.

The Kr̥ishiVitta – Agri Startup Investor Meet & Workshop on 12th December, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM, at the Meeting Hall, Dr. Babu Rajendra Prasad International Convention Centre, UAS Bangalore.

When Punjab Chief Minister's Son Was Paraded On Underwear

Year, 1959, Place Amritsar. Some Indian Army Officers & their wives went to the Railway Station to see off one of their colleagues. Some goons made lewd remarks against the women & tried to molest them. The Army Officers chased the goons who took shelter in a nearby Cinema Theatre. The matter was reported to Commanding Officer Col Jyothi Mohan Sen. On learning about the incident, the Col ordered the Cinema Hall to be surrounded by troops. All the goons were dragged out, the leader of the goons was so heady and drunk with power; he was none other than the son of Chief Minister of Punjab, Pratap Singh Kairon, a close associate of the then PM, Jawahar Lal Nehru. All the goons were stripped to their underwear, paraded in the streets of Amritsar & later interned in the Cantonment. The next day, the Chief Minister became furious & tried to release his son from Indian Army's incarceration. Do you know what happened? His vehicle was not allowed to go into the Cantonment a...

Basavanna: Equality, Humanity and Human Rights

Bengaluru: Akshaya Trutiya is the birthday of Lord Basaveshwara or Basavanna, the 12th-century revolutionary poet and religious reformer who rebelled against all blind beliefs, practices and rituals of Hinduism. It also goes to his credit of bringing God to one’s palms while simultaneously and vehemently opposing the tradition of visiting temples and places of pilgrimages in search of the almighty. Interestingly, unfortunately, or sadly what his followers or disciples have been doing all along would be another separate topic for discussion and better to forget for the time being. A Hindu Protestant: Dr Godwin Shiri, former Director of Christian Institute For The Study Of Religion And Society (CISRS), Bengaluru, during an informal interaction, opined-“Basavanna can be aptly described as a Hindu Protestant as he was in the forefront of opposing blind beliefs”. Influenced by Buddha: Mallikarjun G Kelagade, former Director of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) kee...

Dharwad's Arya Durga, Rukmini and Saraswati...: From Nothing to Crores and Crores...

Bengaluru: Arya Durga Kirani Stores, with Rukmini and Saraswati outlets, are household names for all those residing in and natives of Dharwad. It was a humble and austere beginning, dating back a few decades, thanks to hard work, sincerity, and trustworthy behaviour with customers, the business flourished and grew in leaps and bounds in an unimaginable proportion. Started working at the age of eight years! The owner, late Gajanan Vitthal Shetti, was primarily from Ankola in the North Canara (Karwar) district. Ankola, a coastal town, is renowned for its Salt Satyagraha during the freedom struggle movement. The financial condition of Shetti's family was too critical, making it too difficult to meet even the basic demands of day-to-day life. He began working at a ration shop while he was only eight years of age and continued working until he became 15 years old. Mahalakshmi Hotel boomerangs: Then Gajanan Vitthal Shetti came to Hubballi to do business. He came with his father, Vitth...
