Karnataka: JDS-INC jubilant while 'Reverse Operation' haunts BJP

13 July being a second Saturday was a state government holiday across the state and all government offices and establishments remained closed. But for the lawmakers, it continued to remain a hectic day as the ruling Janata Dal-Secular(JD-S) and Indian National Congress(INC) evinced enough enthusiasm of winning the vote of confidence while the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party is facing a threat of 'Reverse Operation'.

MTB Nagaraj, Hoskote Congress MLA who had resigned to his membership of the state legislature just a couple of days back along with Dr K Sudhakar, Chikkaballapur Congress MLA did a U-turn today by resolving to withdraw his resignation.

This change of heart in him was preceded by more than six hours of parleys he had with DK Shivakumar, Major Irrigation Minister and Dr G Parameshwar, Deputy Chief Minister and Siddaramaiah, former chief minister and leader of the Congress legislature party. He was also persuaded by HD Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister over the phone and it looks all the combined efforts were fruitful enough in bringing back the prodigal son back to the party fold once again.

However, Dr K Sudhakar, Chikkaballapur Congress MLA continues to remain elusive to the ruling combine and is said to be heading to Mumbai to join other 09 dissident MLAs' camping there.Interestingly five MLAs' have moved the Supreme Court seeking directions to the speaker to accept their resignations and MTB Nagaraj is also one of the petitioners. The others are R Roshan Baig(Shivajinagar-Bengaluru Urban district), Dr K Sudhakar(Chikkaballapur constituency in Chikkaballapur district), Muniratna(Rajarajeshwarinagar in Bengaluru Urban district) and Anandsingh(Vijayanagar in Ballari district).

R Ramalingareddy, Seven times Congress MLA and presently representing BTM Layout constituency in the city hasn't made his stance public so far although of late he has been vocal enough in venting his anger against the treatment meted out to him in the recent times.Ms Soumya Reddy, Jayanagar Congress MLA in the city and daughter of R Ramalingareddy is also candid enough in expressing her resentment over the party managers. Although she hasn't made any announcement about her role during the crucial floor test but going by her body language it looks both, father and daughter may not vouch for the ruling parties.

Meanwhile, all the dissident MLAs' camping in Mumbai had a busy day today and visited the holy Shirdi Sai Baba pilgrimage shrine. However, they cut short the proposed tour to Ajanta and Ellora cave temples and returned back to Mumbai. On the other hand, Mukul Rohatgi, a senior lawyer defending the dissident legislators in the apex court, in a written communique has allayed fears of disqualification as feared by them.

He has brought to their notice that they have resigned to their posts much before a requisition was made to the speaker for their disqualification on 11 July.Meanwhile, BS Yeddyurappa, leader of the opposition and state BJP president today demanded the floor test to be undertaken on 15 July, Monday itself and has expressed confidence of defeating the alliance government. At the same time, he denied any of the BJP MLAs' falling prey to the 'Reverse Operation' strategy of the ruling combine and reiterated confidence in hammering the ruling parties in the crucial vote of confidence.

They all shared similar sentiments, fond moments and profound grief in the passing away of Paul Cardoza of the renowned Hotel PAUL’S at Vidyagiri. He was 69 years old and not at all an age for his generation to bid adieu. Walks to Death: Paul Cardoza was a little bit hefty for his height and age; otherwise there were no visible symptoms to hint of any ailments he had been challenged with. Even on the fateful day, he attended to the chores in the hotel until the afternoon before proceeding to neighbour Hubballi for a cardiac test. It is said that he literally walked to the health check-up facility to undergo the examination. No, he was not destinated for it as he suffered a massive stroke and never to recover! A jovial personality: In the passing away of Paul Cardoza Dharwad has lost one o
