Dr Gowtham Kulamarwa had a big shocking surprise recently for he got a call from none other than Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar to congratulate him for the video he did to salute the Medical fraternity, soldiers and cops for their contribution and sacrifices in the ongoing war against the deadly Coronavirus pandemic.
Dr Gowtham Kulamarwa

An ENT surgeon by profession based at Kasargod in Kerala, Dr Gowtham Kulamarwa also has a passion for bringing out videos to create awareness among the general public with the help of his school friend Sai Prasad, who happens to be a professional Video Editor. He recently came out with a 6.27 minutes video as a tribute to all the doctors, health workers and policemen who during their due discharge of duties in trying to save the lives of Corona patients fell victims to the same fatal disease later.

Along with them, he also included the cutaways of heroic soldiers who laid down their lives on the international borders at the hands of enemy soldiers and militants.Apart from including these real-life incidents as ingredients to his video concept, he took the liberty of deploying melody queen Lata Mangeshkar's evergreen patriotic song remembering the martyrs of Indo-China war in 1962, Ye Mere Watan Ke Logon, as background music.

The short duration video is terrific and moving to go by the sequences, visuals of renowned doctors, health workers, cops and martyrs becoming victims in the process of saving the lives of fellow beings.

This video initially posted and forwarded among doctor friends' WhatsApp groups also found its way to the nightingale of Indian celluloid world, Lata Mangeshkar(91).

She was curious to know as to who did this splendid job. Thanks to her relative who also happens to be an ENT surgeon connected her to Dr Gowtham Kulamarwa. The doyen of Bollywood film music called him and congratulated for the wonderful job. She also appreciated the hard efforts of the doctors in the ongoing testing times and expressed her overall happiness about the way the video has been conceptualised.

In fact, this small video was meant for a presentation during the Doctors' Day celebrations at Kasargod, organized by the local Indian Medical Association(IMA). Thanks to Corona, the function was online and attended by about 40 doctors.

The video was very well received by the attendees while 8-10 ENT doctor friends of Gowtham Kulamarwa felt it worth forwarding among their WhatsApp groups. In this way, it reached nook and corners of the country including Lata Mangeshkar.

Dr Gowtham Kulamarwa is naturally elated at the response the video has evoked along with a pat from the country's living legend. But when pleaded for his sound bite to make a package along with parts of the video, he politely refused to budge. He submitted: I am not interested in any personal interview for it is not required. It(video) is only a tribute to all the noble souls who lost the battle while struggling to rescue the lives of all others...However, he quickly adds: I would be happier if the video is projected.

Interestingly he has no idea on the number of views the video has garnered as it continues to be forwarded on WhatsApp groups and Facebook and not on any youtube channels.

Even on the fateful day, he attended to the chores in the hotel until the afternoon before proceeding to neighbour Hubballi for a cardiac test. It is said that he literally walked to the health check-up facility to undergo the examination. No, he was not destinated for it as he suffered a massive stroke and never to recover! A jovial personality: In the passing away of Paul Cardoza Dharwad has lost one o
