Karnataka Janata Dal-Secular(JD-S) facing threat of extinction?

Is the state Janata Dal-Secular(JD-S) regional party facing a threat of immediate disintegration to start with and ending up into extinction later?

Well, this has been a pertinent question doing rounds in the state political circles since quite a few days and as of now although the thought may appear to be a figment of imagination, the developments in the party do not dispute such a possibility sooner or later!

GT Devegowda, Janata Dal-Secular(JD-S) leader who trounced Siddaramaiah at Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency in Mysuru district during the May 2018 general elections looks to be moving far away from the party fold if his outbursts against the rank and file of the party are to be taken for consideration. He has been repeatedly bashing SR Mahesh, another JD-S leader of Mysuru district. Both were ministers in the previous JDS-Congress coalition government and have fallen apart for various personal and political reasons.

SR Srinivas, former minister, Gubbi JD-S MLA in Tumakuru district is another dissident legislator up in arms against HD Kumaraswamy, former chief minister and JD-S legislature party leader and HD Devegowda, patriarch of the regional party.Recently he was vocal enough in blasting HD Kumaraswamy over the latter's alleged involvement in the telephone tapping scam. He had also publicly pronounced: If HD Kumaraswamy is found guilty in the telephone tapping scam, then there is nothing wrong even if he is sent to jail!

The Janata Dal-Secular(JD-S) legislature party is undergoing troubled times after the fall of the JD-S led Congress supported the coalition government. The beginning of desertions from the ruling JD-S and Congress camp began when the then chief minister HD Kumaraswamy left to the United States to attend a Vokkaliga community event.By the time he returned to the state 14 Indian National Congress(INC) and three JD-S legislators had tendered their resignations to the membership of the state Assembly.

Even the CM's arrival on the scene didn't make much difference on the ground level as the dissident MLAs' remained to stay put as a flock in a luxury Mumbai hotel and a resort in Lonawala later.Interestingly among the three JD-S MLAs' who had put up their papers included H Vishwanath, the state JD-S president as well. However, in a turnabout of consequences although the 17 MLAs' quit their positions all of their resignations were kept aside and their membership disqualified till the end of their tenure.

As the apex court is continuously not inclined to hear their plea against their disqualification on an urgent basis all their fond hopes of being sworn in as new ministers in the Bharatiya Janata Party government is becoming a mirage. Most of these ministerial aspirants are also losing hope and patience of becoming ministers and have been found indulging into a BJP bashing mood. They have been individually and collectively making sweeping remarks against the BJP leaders of letting them down after ensuring unseating of the JDS-Congress coalition government.

Such being the plight of those who have already switched sides for green pastures it needs to be seen with what sort of assurances and promises the new JD-S MLAs' want to join the ruling BJP bandwagon.

They all shared similar sentiments, fond moments and profound grief in the passing away of Paul Cardoza of the renowned Hotel PAUL’S at Vidyagiri. He was 69 years old and not at all an age for his generation to bid adieu. Walks to Death: Paul Cardoza was a little bit hefty for his height and age; otherwise there were no visible symptoms to hint of any ailments he had been challenged with. Even on the fateful day, he attended to the chores in the hotel until the afternoon before proceeding to neighbour Hubballi for a cardiac test. It is said that he literally walked to the health check-up facility to undergo the examination. No, he was not destinated for it as he suffered a massive stroke and never to recover! A jovial personality: In the passing away of Paul Cardoza Dharwad has lost one o
