MOU between Illinois University and Ramaiah Group of Institutions

The University of Illinois in the United States has come forward to have a Memoranda of Understanding(MOU) with the city-based Ramaiah Group of Institutions for comprehensive educational research and academic excellence through students and faculty exchange program.

Timothy L.Killeen, 20th President of the University of Illinois made this announcement to a media conference here today in the presence of Dr. M R Jayaram, Chairman, Ramaiah Group of Institutions and senior colleagues of both the institutes of learning.

The University of Illinois has unveiled a one billion dollar initiative per annum for enhancing infrastructure in medical health care, education, research, and multiple areas to ensure world-class facilities in other countries deprived by such systems, informed Timothy L. Kileen.He declared: The University of Illinois with separate Universities at Chicago, Springfield, and Urbana-Champaign has 86,000 plus students system and has a partnership with 12 countries. However, the thrust of all the ongoing plans is not limited to creating wealth but in striving to ensure social equity across the globe.

The University of Illinois President also informed: We are in tie-up with many centres of higher learning in this and many other countries. While in India, we have tied up with the Government of Karnataka in the state and IIT Mumbai, IIT New Delhi, BITS-Pilani, Larsen and Toubro, a Pharmaceutical company, NGOs' among many others.

Bellur S. Prabhakar, Senior Associate Dean for Research, University of Illinois claimed: About 1,100 Indian students are presently studying in the University of Illinois and the number is growing year after year.He also told that the delegation of the University of Illinois is scheduled to meet S D Shibulal, the former Infosys CEO and N R Narayana Murthy, founder Infosys tomorrow.

As a former Indian citizen settled in the US, he expressed satisfaction at the outlook of America by saying: The United States is not just content by welcoming free will but believes in welcoming all to excel to the top and share the fruits of such initiatives to everyone in the world.

Ed Seidel, Vice President for Economic Development and Innovation for the University of Illinois, Mark L. Rosenblatt, Executive Dean of the same University, M R Sreenivasamurthy, CEO of Ramaiah Group of Institutions and many other senior officials of the Institution were present.

Dr Veenashree Satyanarayan Bhat made headlines recently when she stood 11th in the All India National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
